As tempting as it would be to call out Hoppy (and I will later), I’m just glad someone in a position to bring it up to the rules congress realize that it’s an issue. As far as genie in the bottle, I don’t think it would be too difficult to go back to the old rule of only allowing a few amped soloists or a 12 member ensemble. From what I can tell, the rule allowing for amping the entire horn line didn’t pass until 2016 and it was rather vague, saying anything on the field can be amped

Amping the horn line is gross, and who is it really for? Very few fans like it, it destroys seats in the stands and part of the musical education is being cheated by amps

I weep at the thought of having to buy headphones for finals

Already got ear plugs out, ready to go.

"Live by the sword amp,

die by the sword amp."

the correct phrase is live by the plug, die by the plug.

George Hopkins is one of the most successful people in drum corps, at the helm of the Cadets for the past 35 years.  If he thinks we have gone too far in unleashing A&E, then I am inclined to defer to his wisdom.

Except it was his wisdom that kind of got us here in the first place.

I do not think the recap experiment last year was an 'official rules change', but just an experiment to see if there was any validity to the accusation judges were pre determining sub caption scores and rankings based on previous judges scores.
