Wiki is my friend.

Chumley however, prolly knew that without help.

Ok I feel better now. And Chumley... well Chumley is Chumley..

Dang what a crew we had..... the High School and college agers were as much "characters" as the vets. Take away Brother Dave and Filipelli brothers and its no contest.

Oh Well we still have Dead & Company with John Mayer filling in for Jerry. Technically very  proficient but the sweetness of Jerry's guitar will never be matched. I follow them on nugs.net where all shows are streamed live with the first 21 minutes of the show free. Being on a fixed income I just watch the free part which is usually just the first song . Then the next day the show shows up free on YT (how do groups even survive). Then for those with a ticket stub it's stored on the cloud just scan the bar code and there's the whole show again. Just a case in point the Dead were the first rock group to utilize line array speakers. Having access to sound checks (avid taper friends w/ their sound board crew) they had fun bouncing sounds around the arena. Odd that their music was free sometimes with patches directly into the soundboard but you could pick it out of the air as well. They kept journals of dynamic range capabilities at each venue with level adjustments and speaker locations that other top named groups purchased. So the music was free but how it got there would cost you. A big hoorah for the Corps sound crews those line arrays take some tweaking but they pull it off proficiently in less than 17 minutes. What A Long Strange Trip It's Been Corps using Line Arrays. Run 36 or so G Valve horns through a 70's style speaker and it would shred them apart from afar. If only those line arrays would do that we could get back to normal???????

Well I've seen D&C a couple of times and attended Fare Thee Well in Chicago to celebrate the 50th anniversary. I have countless live recordings of the Dead. I had just graduated high school when Jerry died and didn't really get into the music until a bit later. I will say that people who pass it off as some stoner music have chosen to not free themselves up to understand where the music comes from. Lots of folk, blues, jazz and rock influences. I've also been a devoted Phish fan for about 18-19 years. I don't do drugs and can easily attend these shows without a haze of any sort. I just enjoy where the music takes me and how I connect to it.

Nice! Can't call it nostalgia because they never left the scene not oldies because the songs took on a life of their own, being renewed every concert. The lyrics are a life lesson, just a wonderful experience . A little known fact is the Dead would send soundboard cassette tapes to their friends in Nam had many contacts lots of tapes, they spread like wildfire. At night on watch the TOC radio operator would switch to an unused frequency tape the mic and place by his box. If we needed to play army he would break squelch a few times and we would all switch back. That's a reason for all the Nam vet fans. If I would say today who is helping the vets is Toby Keith what he does when he ventures to the middle east is something they will never forget. I was blind all the time I was learning to see.

You don't want me becomming a human steamroller, again. Last year a young man who must of thought he Tronned himsel into his smamart phone just stopped dead right in front of me, ran him right over unintentionally. Helped him back up, we were both upset but all was OK. I am hearing that pulling a Tron into the digital realm is still a few years out.

Odd that after 200 Greatful Dead shows with over 100k messed up hippies in pretty confimed spaces. We never crashed into each other. Go to a concert today there is no anticipated bobbing & weaving nothing is made easier in the plysical world just total self absortion into ones false reality, sad.

Are you using 'Tronned' correctly?

If you ran into him, wouldnt it have been you who got tronned, like in the game when you lose?

Or based on Urban dictionary, you would have tronned him if you went around him.

You're right that it's annoying when people stop in a walkway, regardless if it is smartphone related or just because they're oblivious.

I don’t know about the whole stadium but mine in 140 is padded and has a cup holder.

If only they had real beer to put in that cup holder...
