craiga
People seem to be thinking it will be BAC/Crown in 4/5 or 5/6, but I'm not so sure. I think some people are under the erroneous impression that BD and SCV are automatically top three and thus are naturally ahead of Crown and Boston. But both of our corps are less than two points behind Bluecoats, and I am beginning to think that BLOO is in fact the team to beat. If that's the case, there is a good chance that Crown/BAC may in fact be 2/3 or something similar. In 2009, it took the judging panels (and most spectators) nearly a full month to realize that the 2008 Champion Phantom Regiment was, in fact, a 9th place drum corps.

I suspect the absence of buzz in CrownLAND is that folks are taking stock of where Crown is at this moment and what that might look like in the next 5 weeks. If there are design issues, perhaps that can be addressed. Regardless, I’ll remain a honk until the last note of the season. While I have no way of knowing if staff or MM’s ever peruse these pages, they deserve our unwavering support. They always have mine... I'll add some buzz 🙂 Boston eeked by Crown last night. And it's July 6th 🙂 There's a month of the season to finish. It's gonna be a fun season.

The corps wasn’t the problem, the show was just a stinker that couldn’t be shined. I’d wager the corps itself had an obscene amount of talent that wasn’t used
palmettomello
The guy that stands in the middle of the rotating circles in the 2nd number got a visual solo last night, he essentially owns the fact he isn't moving and its pretty funny 3
Newseditor44
It’s July 6th, there’s a LONG way to go. We still have seen full panels yet. Regardless, as a drum corps fan, how freaking cool is it that we have two great shows like Crown and BAC to watch? Sitting in the stands last night I was absolutely blown away by both corps!! I think the placement debate is fun, but I generally leave the stadium before the scores are announced. All I care about being entertained, and man both of those groups are doing just that! Newseditor44
As for Crown, I think there are two big issues: 1. How to get the guard to stand out - this group is doing great work but there are no real stand out moments for them right now. We need something to make them “pop”. 2. The show goes a bit flat at the beginning of the closer, just after the tuba entry where the trumpet solo begins until the entire brass line comes in. I suspect that if anything in the show is going to change it will be there. Edited July 6, 2019 by Newseditor44

Incognito365
This happened last year just 2 days away from the exact date. Look what happened last year with a less than stellar show. Even Crown 2013 hit a bump in the road, falling to the Cadets in Ocean Springs, who eventually placed third and roughly 1.5 behind them. Hell, look at 2015 before Atlanta. No need to sound the alarm until at least San Antonio.

Personally, my buy-in to Crown’s ‘19 production is complete. As has been stated more eloquently elsewhere, continued cleaning & layering will provide opportunities for improvement. What concerns me most, however, are—accurately described previously by BWise—the “Broadway on Grass” shows fielded by other top corps. To that end, numbers crunchers seem to be favoring those designs, at least up to this point. But I’m with you In-Cog, and we’ll refrain from going all General Quarters on this season until SA. In any event, best thing they’ve fielded since ‘16👑
