I've got a few questions about the Bluecoats perfromance: 1.Who makes the decision to stop the show for safety ? 2.Does stopping and restarting affect their score ? 3.I can see if this only happens once,but what if it happens frequently,are there any "penalties "? Anyone interested in the well-being of the performers. 2. No, not last night. 3. Stopping or delaying the show can only affect the score if a penalty is assigned. Penalties are only assigned if the judges don't assign legitimate cause (like safety concerns) to the delay. For example, the last time that finals was in California, the Cadets organization pulled their corps from the field prior to the start time at quarterfinals and demanded that the field be repainted before they perform. The field was relined and the performance went on. They were initially penalized for that evening because the field had been repainted according to schedule. It wasn't until after the show that a review (including the input from the previous corps) indicated that the field was not sufficiently marked and it was unsafe. The penalty was withdrawn and the Cadets got their full adjudication. I knew someone in the Bloo drumline at the time that said the conditions were very poor just prior to Cadets. I don't know who called it last night, but the judges apparently either did it, or they agreed with the interruption (of course they did). Judges are on the side of the performing groups. They want to rate them and they want to rate them fully to their merit every night if possible. Penalties are only given for regulatory infractions that have no extenuating circumstance (they are rare). Edit: In fact, just last week, I think it was Boston, was delayed on the field due to a medical emergency in the spectator stands. A couple people on the forum were uttering 'penalty... penalty..." It was nonsense then and it still is. Penalties are very rare. Here's a fun discussion of penalties from back in the day. The performance had energy as seems to be the case with every show they do, but it was more fine tuned. So I would be inclined to think the weather delay hurt Bloo slightly scorewise which only makes what they accomplished more impressive. Regarding Boston Crusaders, they did not have judges feedback from Beanpot as Bloo did, but they had more rehearsal time. All the scores and comments in the world will be of no use without rehearsal. I think their score reflectscthe progress that are making, but Bloo’s show is just getting more powerful. For me, what happens on Friday: Crown v. BAC in Lexington, SC and SCV v.
