BigBadMadMan
They can wear banana colored long jackets and pimp hats for all I care, as long as they play some kick butt melodic music that makes the hair stand up on my arms. You can say that again. Programming a lot of songs used to be the norm back in the 80's, but it was usually a pretty cohesive arrangement (see '83 or '86 BD), but in today's beep-bop musical snippets-style of arranging, it can get pretty unrecognizable. Some corps will only play a melodic line once and then riff on that to the point that you miss it if you aren't paying close attention. It gets to the point that it seems arrangers are just trying to impress each other with wacky, off-the-wall arrangements.

From the recordings I've heard, Boerma is definitely NOT guilty of that with this show. You'll find a lot of melodic content in 2015, with that signature Boerma/Madison sound. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

MJN
I saw the mylar,too...not sure why they would change to kevlar at this point now.
scouttimp
I know I'm from the mylar generation- (watched people dig through the trash after SCV used the first Remo kevlar heads in '87 hoping for a look into the future), but many classic drum sounds in the early kevlar years happened with mylar. Star, Bluecoats, etc. In the classic recordings, I love the last few years of plastic:'86 Devs, '87 Cadets, '87 Phantom, '84 Vanguard, '85 Suncoast. Crazy cool drum sounds. I love distinct sounds from drum corps, be it horns or drums. If Kevlar works for you, great. If mylar floats your boat, sure! If I get out of the car and hear a drum line and say "Let's check out the Scouts!", super cool!
