  1. Careful. We've all heard of glass houses, and here's a "Mid-West Side Story": https://www.mprnews.org/story/2018/11/27/minneapolis-close-homeless-camp There are bigger problems in this world than one on-the-skids, mismanaged non-profit in the wealthiest suburb in America.

  2. I wouldn’t let them stop me from going. They usually talk a big game on the interNUT, but when you run into them eye-to-eye, they have pee dribbling down their leg because they’ve encountered you.

  4. it's sad you feel like you can't go to a show. there's people i have disagreed with...alums, others...and at no time seeing other has it gotten abusive or uncomfortable. mostly we all seem to go out of our way to avoid each other.

  7. 💪🏽 Ty Terri. It means a lot to hear that from you, genuinely. Beyond them, the whole experience has still proven very triggering for me so we will have to see. Flo might be it for me for a while. 6-8 hrs one way just to be triggered is a tall order. An old timer Troop vet comforted me last time though, which was nice.

  12. @Richard Lesher, Everything I'm reading to this point seems to indicate that the most revenue-secure way to continue for 2024 is to shut down Bingo for a month, change the bingo hall locks, nuke the entire staff, hire a new team with some morals, and completely revamp the business process. Is it just a matter of making the commitment to clean up bingo ASAP to be able to move forward with some security for '24 and further? If that is indeed the case, I'm wondering if there are area alumni that would volunteer, while putting aside previous conflicts-- petty or otherwise, to try to save their corps.

  18. I extended myself in the warmest way one could in September 2022. I got blown off, ignored, threatened, continuous attempts to discredit me, SCV as an organization used legal methods in attempts to censor me (by attorneys that were board members at the time of State delinquency) in what I can now articulate a multimillion dollar inconsistency (being as nice as I can). I fixed this situation before inside of the organization. I took me two years to get past the management entrenched there to get to those improved numbers. I sit here, only 10 minutes away from SCV's place of business as a stay at home dad with 20 hours a week to allocate to any thing I want. If Bingo was fixed it could give them $1,000,000 more than they were planning on in 2024. This is not an exaggeration. When bingo was fixed last time SCV had more money than they knew what to do with. They literally couldn't spend it fast enough. Tour expenses would go over budget by $100K (already increasing the budget from the previous year), and Bingo would end making $300K more than planned. ******************* The problem is I'm not wasting the time I did back in 2005 with the bad actors dragging out this situation. Hence the polarizing effect I have with my fellow alumni (as many hate me as love me). ****************** So I literally agree with your idea. Yea, the whole bingo operation needs to come to a full stop. See what is going on, and then restart it with the operating procedures the previous Bingo Manager left behind. The purge however would have to be wide. Essentially........... only the corps and tour staff would be left. The new CEO also gets a pass (for now). ***************** I understand the tactics used against me now. The consequences are going to be steep for some people. The CPA firm now is wearing the same tinfoil hat I am being told I wear.

  28. They would effectively have to have the Bingo license pulled for that to mechanically prevent them from touring. Understand, the Bingo license is regulated by the City of Santa Clara. Complaints filed to the city are in no way correlated with complaints to the State. The state says they can operate as a non profit. The City gives them the privilege to operate Bingo. However, according to the auditors, nothing material can be verified. So even if they said they have a lot saved up from over 2023, from the auditors point of view "if you say so". Even if they go delinquent again for failing to file 2023 financials they are easily going to get extended to September, and the clock would have started all over again anyway. I think there is an 80% chance they will Tour. There is just too much reputation that is been staked against it. However, it could break them financially if bingo is bleeding the whole time and they lose control of expenses. I mean I could possibly rent a private 747 to a European vacation, but I wouldn't be able to get back, and I'd been living on the streets when its over. I cannot verify this of course but I think: 1) They are not starting 2024 with the same level of reserves they started with in 2022. 2) They will have to operate with a budget significantly less than they operated with in 2022 and 2019. So considering those two things my confidence is not high regarding the financial execution of the 2024 tour.

  29. To be clear, the “prior year success” observation only applies to new champions. SCV has multiple championships and many champions on staff. Too bad their admin and board is full of goofs.

  34. Let's see what we can do for extra GE tonight.. 1. SCV. The mello sustain no longer goes up onto the stage but continues the sustain while doing the Bottle Dance. 2. BD. A 13 year old Clara pops up in the painting set and tap dances on the counter. 3. Bloo. God Bless the Child segues into Autumn Leaves. They go way over time and are penalized down to 6th place. No one cares about the placement. 4. Crown. The guard uses the rocker the entire show....to chase the judges around the field and attempt to squash them. 5. BAC. The $100,000 prop is finally revealed. It's a field sized tarp of Tom Hanks. 6. Cavies. Instead of flipping the tarps, the roll them back into the cubes and proceed to do spin cycle drill until everyone falls down dizzy. Several spectators pass out vomiting from the vertigo. 7. Cadets. Two words. Maroon and Gold. 8. Blue Stars. The wood tarps are turned over at the end to reveal blueprints that show that rather than building a house, they've actually been working on trying to build Bloo's Jagged Line stage. 9. Blue Knights. Rather than playing Rite of Spring, they swap in the Bangles Walk Like an Egyptian and get the whole crowd doing it. 10. Mandarins. Nothing new. This show is weird enough. 11. Phantom Regiment. The guard shows up in copper plated foil uniforms. Guard judge flips out saying "You DO have a guard this year!" Scores triple resulting in a potential medal position. 12. Crossmen. After opening umbrellas indoors all season, bad luck finally hits. But it's only 3.5 years worth because the umbrellas have been full of holes.

  35. A lovely idea. But this is a giant barrier. This stuff is enmeshed and engrained over decades and so many of us have given up. Myself included now after a recent public and humiliating spat with another alum. Their drive to humiliate and friendly-fire other alum they disagree with seems endless. I want nothing to do with them and feel less safe to attend a show now than ever. I hope others still standing are stronger than me. Cue the trolls crying "me me me" in response to my sharing of my own experiences, which is all I have left now.
