Hook'emCavies
Sounds like so much going on. I hope they're successful with it. I love the "a little more angry"...we need more of that from Cadets. No CHRISTMAS HAPPY MUSIC! but...but I like Christmas happy music! I liked Cadets 2012!! This show music is REALLY good too though! jaylogan
Re: A corps show should be understood from the first viewing - an opinion from another thread. I didn't like BK when I first saw the show. Funny how the majority of shows I've grown fond of - I didn't like from the first viewing. After the second viewing, I loved BK's 2012 show. I think it's incredible. In fact, after a number of years, I'll say IMO it's one of the most unique things I've seen on the field. It's differences clicked with me. In fact, prior to viewing it I was tired of Firebird. Now I catch myself humming parts of it. Even though Marc is no longer with BK, I hope he understands that what was on the field last year was appreciated. I also hope that the members of BK 2012 are proud of that show. I completely agree with you on this. BK 2012 was one of the best shows in a while, IMO. I can't get it out of my head. And I like it that way! MikeD
I wish BK had done something like this last year. Would have eliminated a lot of the head scratching, misconceptions and questions in respect to what the hell Avian was all about. This show does sound great, but I really loved Avian, so I for one am glad they did the show they did.
jjeffeory
Yes, I remember Mr. Hopkins saying something to the effect that the last piece of The Zone was intended to be something Medea-like in nature. Ah good. Thanks for the confirmation. So it wasn't Liquid, it was the last piece...
MikeN
Ah good. Thanks for the confirmation. So it wasn't Liquid, it was the last piece... Yeah, Liquid was loosely based on Equus by Eric Whitacre. The closer was "inspired" by Medea. Mike
euph2008
I LOVE the music and I think this could be an incredible show, but I do think that there is the small possibility of a BD-esque "what in the world is going on here" vibe. I'm interested to see how they pull it off.

Mike, I think RG meant: "I wish BK had done something like Hopkins's explanatory video last year", i.e., so people would have understood the concept of "Avian" in advance in the way they presumably already understand the concept of "Both Sides Now".

I don't wish BK did a Barber show last season...I'm GLAD they did Avian. I was talking about BK doing what Hopkins did...explain the show beforehand. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I'm interested to see how they pull it off. That may be true but I'm not sure that they can purposefully design an esoteric show since they are focusing on the importance of one time viewing and being able to understand it.
