xandandl
Although corps may no longer be publicly selling detailed recaps, I wouldn't be surprised that a black-market, (behind the souvie stand) version might subsidize some summer fuel funds. And then there is this version where corps will raise monies, similar to Powerball drawings and based on the DCP prediction threads. Blank recaps for each corps will be sold for which the buyers will fill in the various subcaptions with their best guestimatation. Akin to a 50/50, prizes will be awarded for 5, 6, 7 subcaptions correctly answered. The Powerball-like supernumber will probably be the Color Guard score, for God only knows how those subjective numbers are ever rendered. If no correct numbers are turned in, the monies will increase all the way to Finals. And John DeNovi, my copyright and licensing legal staff ("Little" Butchie and Ralph the Razor) have assured me that residuals will have to be paid if copied by others; they will collect. ha, ha. MikeN
But penalty points, Garf!. Isn't it against DCP rules to cut and paste FB quotes w/o the original poster's permission? Tsk, Tsk. Basically what's said is that when the fan complained, DCI said it wasn't DCI's fault but that the corps make the rules. Complain to the corps not DCI. Naah, DCP rules have always been that quotes are fine with a link. Just don't cite entire articles verbatim. Mike
frachel
Which corps will be the first to announce the need for a new staff member, with one of the qualifications being an eidetic memory...

drumcorpsfever
Question - yes, this is a serious question. Wondering if anyone knows. If so, please reply: With recaps being withheld, will the corps members themselves know for each show how they ranked in brass, percussion, and guard? Mike (Standing behind Mike, the Consigliere, and taunting): "Nah, Nah, Nah. Here's what you can do with your penalty points!" (Turns and runs away.) The release already mentioned that the corps staff would have access to detailed recaps during the critique.
garfield
Question - yes, this is a serious question. Wondering if anyone knows. If so, please reply: With recaps being withheld, will the corps members themselves know for each show how they ranked in brass, percussion, and guard? Seems to be the point that they'll know when, if, and how staff wants them to know. They're concerned about psychological damage to the young, impressionable minds (and they're tired of putting up with the ######## from MM's). Oh, and they apparently also don't trust the judges or something so they may not tell their kids anything all season. "It's only a number! Do your best show! You can't control anyone else's performance or rankings! Forget the numbers!" MM: "Did BD win drums?" Staff: "Water!" (Huddles in consultation with each other. "How do we handle this question?") perc2100
Do shoes announce Caption winners? I don't recall; do non-Championships announce Brass, Percussion Guard caption winners or just final scores? How about the DCI sponsored regional shows? BillH
Intrigued by Marie's statement in the DP interview about judges checking their caption score against the total to determine if you might have made a mistake. Isn't the point that captions should be ranked and rated independently and the total is the derived result? Isn't it ok to be a box 4 total score with a box 3 drum score or brass score? Or are we to believe that all facets of the corps must be in proximity?
