DawsonBurnes
FWIW I think both these corps (BDB and SCVC) should just move to world class but keep the same tour (or maybe do ATL to INDY or something). Open is supposed to be a developmental class and they've clearly moved out of that criteria for a number of years now. I understand the financial issues. Surely something can be worked out. I don't want two Blue Devils in World Class. The point of the organization is to help younger kids get into drum corps. Yeah, OC and Academy moved, but there wasn't already an OC A and Academy A in World class. Kudos to them for scoring so high, but seriously, I think they should stay in Open class.
Cappybara
That was actually my first read of PC this year. Kind of disappointing compared to SCVC, but I loved Fix You! This show in general reminds me of Spectrum
Suviduvi
When Academy won div 2 in 2006. They were "kindly" invited to div 1.....smaller corps did not like the competition. Academy wanted to spend another year in div 2 to gain more organizational experience. DCI should move scvc and bdb to wc or create a new div with the liw end wc and the high end oc
BlueStainGlass
Hopefully this restaurant is fast so we can get back for BDB

I don't see why their mission would change. Same kids. Same philosophy and approach. But they should be competing against their peers (which are clearly not in Open).
CrownBariDad
They were awesome in the stadium! Lots of energy considering the sound board issues. Great season, PC!!!

JoeDz
After a discussion about C2 being DCA and not DCI, I think I have a clearer read on the different types of Open Class and how they relate to World Class. Not only are SCVC and BDB feeder/trainer corps. They're also offering an SCV and BD experience that doesn't demand the full tour a World Class corps does. So the kids opting to march with them know what they're getting. SCV ( or BD or Cadets) style instrucion without the same expectations and commitments time wise and financially that marching World Class requires. For some kids, that's going to be the right step to make to test the waters and figure out support to do this activity. For other groups like Legends and Genesis, there's a different identity to the corps in moving an organization toward World Class status (perhaps). Similarly, Pioneer and Surf know what they are identity wise and wants to offer what they do as well. So it's different opportunities for different students and they're all doing fairly well! Thinking of the relation between World and Open classes (and DCA) as some sort of performance based "promotion/relegation" arrangement like English soccer leagues is somewhat flawed. There are kids who age out with OC corps and choose not do do the whole tour thing.
MikeN
This happened in pipe band a few years ago. Simon Fraser University's B band got promoted to Grade 1, over the band and the school's objections. In response, the org disbanded the B band and created a new one in its place, which by rule had to start in the lower divisions.
