In a bar/restaurant outside of the city I was having dinner and playing shuffleboard. One woman sitting at the bar overheard me talking, turned to her friend and said "Oh, a d**** Yankee" and went back to her drink. 😀 In 1990 I was on our annual Fall Field Tour of Duty with a military organization whose HQ's is Faneuil Hall. We were in Cannes and having some fun at the large casino. From the craps table, about every 15-20 minutes, some of our well lubricated members at the main bar would start singing O Canada. No Americans got blamed that night.

You've probably seen this cartoon before (there are multiple versions in circulation), but just in case not: I agree with you that everyone deserves an equal opportunity. It's a question of what equal opportunity means. Or as Martin Luther King said in a 1967 interview: "it's a cruel jest to say to a bootless man that he ought to lift himself by his own bootstraps". And I would expect that this question of defining equality is part of what Cadets are considering. Edited July 11, 2020 by N.E. Brigand

The middle frame represents both equal opportunity and equal outcome. The other two would never happen. If you are tall enough to see over the fence, you would not perch yourself on top of a box, much less seven of them. We all know where this goes next. You will spend your day scouring the Internet for better cartoons. I will spend my day enjoying the opportunities available to me. The two of us have equal opportunity, but will we have equal outcomes? 2

I don't believe these things are intended to make sense, they're designed to get an emotional response.

Note the social distancing in the attached video. It is completely predicative of current events yet occurred decades ago. The dirty one playing the bass is also clearly showing the Corona he is infected with. Edited July 11, 2020 by Continental
