First time in Gold's history they beat BDB and SCVC. History was made tonight. Congrats on the Gold win. I though something was up with them when I saw them at the PC preview show. Very impressed with the drum line. That blond kid from Pulse is doing a real good job as a tech. But, remember: keep them motivated and working hard. no one will remember who won the first show of the season, but everyone will remember who won the last show.

Not sure the whole story, but something happened... 🤷♂️ Ugh... Pretty rude of BD to barge in with Ghostlight. 😜 1
DFA1970
I think Gold just might win the Open Class div. If they do what a great win for a pretty much unknown corp that just beat two corps that have pretty much dominated that division for years.

MikeRapp
Mandarins seem to have recruited well and retained their best visual instructors. They will easily make finals at this pace. Really impressive.
Tony Flores
The more I listen to BD 2022 the more it feels a lot like BD 2016 (as dreams are made on) and i loved that one...I'm probably the only one that feels that way. I look forward to regionals season when we get blessed with everyone at the same show.

It reminds me of 2017 with the props (though I like this summer's props better...more elegant) and also with the way they stage Moon River. It reminds me of 2019 with the body movement and closer. I think it demonstrates that you can't just try to innovate or reinvent the wheel every second of every show. You find ways to work with the things that work. Look at Cadets, Cavaliers in the 2000s, SCV and many others. You always have to do the things that work. And BD does this well and yet they also find new creative angles. Once again I absolutely LOVE their show. And for those that do not like their show there is still plenty to enjoy I think. Execution in and of itself can be entertaining, and just watching the Blue Devils march, play, drum, guard, and the creative ways they use their body can be very enjoyable and impressive. I personally thought they were 3 to 4 points better than SCV last night. I do like SCV. They have a smokin' good music ensemble. But I am anxious to see a complete show and to see what they do visually with color and other design choices as the season goes on. I still believe they can be a medal contender with that talent. I said a while back the only reservation I had for BD was a few musical issues in construction that needed tweaked. They took care of the biggest concern I had which was for Moon River. It was darn near perfect last night. I just about shot to my feet as they brought that section of the show to a climax. I imagine they will begin work on the closing moments of the program next. I said it last night and I'll say it again: I have a hard time seeing this corps lose a single show this summer. I honestly could care less who wins (though I was pulling hard for Bluecoats in 2019). Bloo and BD put on a show in 2019 for sure. But right now BD is simply on another level from the other contenders. Until Bloo fixes some issues in brass and visual clarity, and until SCV gets a finished show on the field I think the only two corps with complete products that can come close to BD are Boston and Carolina. This is because both have the brass, percussion, and guard caption strength to hang, but so much will depending on how their visual and GE grows over the summer. I love that show as well, especially the treatment of the ballad and the drum feature with whatever drum speak they were using. Fantastic!

Scott Johnson is so good at watering down the snare parts and hiding them in the back for about 80% of the show. Really need to get the drum judge back on the field. This is ridiculous. SCV should be beating BD in drums by a least a point. Watch them both in sectionals at practice. It pains me to say this, because i know kids in BD's line and staff. I say it like i see it. I has SCV winning as well- especially with who was judging drums (know the guy) I was sitting about 25 feet from the drum majors right on the 50- and the look on Rennick's face after SCV's solos were priceless. He was so stoked. But I guess BD just had a little extra...
