  5. This show. Just. Wow. Goosebumps. These kids are bringing it. They know they are working on quality music and visual, and it shows. I’m already excited about 2022 even before this one reaches the finish line. As a PR fan, this is what I’ve needed since Turandot. Bravo! Bravo!

  7. While I have been a supporter of DCI and purchased past Flo Marching Subscriptions; & DCI Blu-Ray DVD's from Drum Corps International, the fact that Flo Marching attempted to charge 3 past credit card accounts without authorization ... I will pass on on any 2021 streams. DCI (IMO) is a very mis-managed organization and I will not be held captive to the likes of a sub par streaming service such as Flo_Marching attempting to charge my credit cards. It seems that Box 5 may provide a better live stream service but that will have to be determined after more review. Basically, I am saying that DCI is "Dead". The organization known as "DCI" has milked the activity untill it is dead and can no longer sustain itself. And it's affiates have been instrumental in "Destroying" the activity.

  8. Any corps/organization that performs during this pandemic shutdown has my vote for us to support and keep the the organization alive as part of the drum corrps activity/Marching Arts.

  12. This could become.... "the end of Drum Corps as we know it ". This could be a standing headline too. One that has been uttered by some folks pretty much every year since the end of WW2.😀

  13. That's like asking for one, combined thread related to COVID.

  14. Yes, I meant the run-through thread. Would be good to have one combined thread related to Regiment 2021.

  15. Who was it that just couldn't stand for the Crown thread to be on page 2? This post is in his/her honor. 🙂

  16. I am struggling as I read this press release. It appears to be out of date. Your first line states "The following are press releases from BDPA & VMAPA as of July-22-2021." Yet, the Basel Tattoo was cancelled back in May. Basel Tattoo | basel.com Am I missing something?

  17. Wow, seems a little extreme for a possible logistical error, but I don't know any specifics of the situation and of course it's your choice as the consumer. I don't agree with your final point, but again, your choice. However, if your larger point is that money, politics and being out of touch to some or a large degree with supporters makes entities such as DCI less appealing, I can see that.

  18. That one minute twenty four seconds sounded great..particularly the low brass..If this is indicative of the rest of their show, I'm all in...good luck this season!

  20. I do wonder where the designers go from here. It seems that DCI is going through a more avant-garde design phase, and I don't think that plays well for Phantom, simply because they're known for producing narrative shows (with the big exception of course being 2003). 2017 is a great example of them attempting to meld into that prevailing culture and it going less than stellar, competitively. However, I'll of course take less narrative-oriented shows like Harmonic Journey all day if it means that they get back to where they should be. Simply put, I really don't know what a modern day, competitively successful Phantom would be or look like. I certainly do not envy the designers' jobs in the coming years, but they seem competent enough to thread the needle.

  21. The last time I was this excited for "next season" was after 2012, and 2021 hasn't even officially started. Editor's note: I was reasonably happy about the addition of Wes Cartwright after 2016 (and it didn't last long into 2017).

  23. I literally made this account to say the same thing, haha. They're looking and sounding awesome and I am super excited to see what that means for them in the coming years. The new design team and talented performers have reinvigorated a genuine excitement for Phantom that hasn't been present for several years. Also, redoing Harmonic Journey was quite frankly an ingenious move to get the general DCI community's attention after a few years of competitive recession. All in all, I think there are only great things to come in Phantom's future, for real this time.

  25. I like the classic look from Phantom 2021. One of the most indentifiable characteristics of all these Drum Corps were their attire, including shako. I miss that frankly.

  26. Great design! Technically impressive while keeping the audience engaged. Pure, straightforward energy and entertainment. It’s refreshing to see a show that’s not trying to be anything more than that. Boston will be remembered very favorably for the quality they are fielding this year, and for what they are providing the MMs, fans, and the activity. The MMs look like they are having great fun performing this. It will be very well received by audiences hungry for a return to the activity. Bravx to everyone who made this show possible. And… as @Terri Schehr pointed out, no one had to die!
