  2. So, I wouldn't be fulfilling my job as a BAC fan if I didn't post today that Boston Crusaders fly into Castleton two weeks from today and begin rehearsals two weeks from tomorrow! And, I believe the drum line moves in a few days earlier. It is time!

  8. Oh these things. Yeah. This was why there were only TWO phones in the house. The one in the kitchen, that had a long cord to the living room for semiprivacy if my sister was talking to a boyfriend. And one in mom and dad's room. My sister and I knew better than to call things like that, but we had some dumb friends. Heh. The modern equivalent was the younger neice streaming music while on wifi then carrying the phone where it switched to cell service. My sister's famlily plan data overcharges got a bit silly and no amount of talking to would get her to not 'oops' again.

  10. Prometheus. Gave fire to the mortals. Sentenced to eternal torment by being chained to a rock & having his liver eaten by birds. But he regenerates every night so the loss of liver is continual. It’s the wurst.

  11. I think I’ve heard this story before. I had a relative who had a strange obsession with those 1-800 tarot card readers. Spent a fortune on that silly Miss Cleo 💩.

  12. He did the bare minimum. Some of us would have gone to ‘the authorities’ if those were reported to did nothing. There were children being R’d. If he had followed through he would be remembered far better.

  13. Oh I believe it. Mom would have made sure I went to that "Special Place"...........which growing up in the ghetto back then, us kids referred to as a coma lol.

  18. Do you (or anyone reading this) remember "The Box" where you called a 900 number to request the music video you wanted to see back in the late 80s? We were in middle school, and my buddy had apparently called it a bunch of times without his mom's permission while she was working. We were in the street playing football after school one day, all of the sudden his mom comes flying out the house with the phone bill in one hand and a belt in the other hand lol. Beat the brakes off of him in front of everyone and continued into the house lol. I don't think he sat down for two weeks LMAO.

  19. Ha! I started my career with the “phone phactory” as a residential service rep in the late 80s about the time the 900 numbers started to show up on customers’ bills…. to the tune of hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars. Customers, a.k.a. parents, would call in screaming at us reps about the amount of their bill. Us service reps weren’t the ones who made those calls. We had to politely advise them that someone in the household, a.k.a the kids, made those calls. I remember a few calls when the person responsible for those calls was disciplined while I was on the phone with the customer!

  20. Probably, actually. In 1998 I was at a remote cabin over finals weekend in Wisconsin and I made my friend drive me (Friday morning, Saturday morning and Sunday morning) 30 minutes to a pay phone so I could call for scores.

  22. We were on it 1999. One small area had things from the closed Naval Base. Including a plaque that had some of my co-workers names on it for testing a new computer application. 😳

  24. Early 1990s would drive from Central PA to Norfolk VA and back a lot. Went the DC beltway until saw a pile up and decided man above telling us something. Then went west of DC area thru middle of VA then over to catch 95 at Fredricksburg. 2019 drove to Raleigh NC for a graduation. Coming home started EAST side of VA and drive across VA to get to WEST side of VA (Winchester) to avoid traffic. 🤯😱🤮🤮🤮🤮

  25. Sure. But I don’t trust them to do the right thing either. i feel guilty about some of the stuff I saw BITD. I just put my head down and didn’t rock the boat. There’s probably enough guilt to go around over the decades.

  26. Especially important to do this if it happens on tour. Jurisdiction where offense happened is where it is prosecuted. That said - the PSU athletic facilities weren’t moving

  30. I agree with this. Poor old Joe got caught in the cogs. The university President certainly deserved the axe as did the AD. But he followed the chain of command and got the ultimate punishment for it.

  31. This is one of those situations that angers me. This destroyed Paterno and I truly believe led to his death. So many people criticized him, but he was a military man, you tell your supervisor and you don’t jump the line. Plus it couldn’t have been a fun, comfortable experience for him. He probably wanted nothing to do with it and I guarantee there’s many many people who would’ve acted just the same. He did was he needed to. The rest of them failed the system.

  35. I have had students who served on submarines. When they get back in port they are not allowed to drive for 2-3 days because their distance vision needs to adjust. You can never see more than 20 feet in a submarine.

  36. If in Yorktown you were next to me - I live about 300 yards from battlefield. George Washington’s outhouse was in my front yard. I have a different hot humid scale as I was in Louisiana cajun rice fields getting data for grad school. 95 degrees, 99% humidity and zero wind.
