year1buick
Just edit and take out the content. But it won't let you put absolutely nothing in a post so most people just replace the content with a period. No, but you can make it look that way. 1956OPR
Guard is PR's strongest caption this year imo, at least right now. They do a LOT of work, and their weapon tosses are both more numerous and more difficult than in the majority of years' past. Also, their weapon section is significantly larger than in years' past (= more difficulty). If PR has any problems this year, the guard is not one of them. Also, their movement book is great this year... The all-movement "Rockord files" (old-school, fast-paced ripple effect using flags and rifle tosses down a vertical straight line -- usually 3 across -- that showed up in a lot of Regiment shows in various combinations in the late 70s & early 80s) is pretty KICK A**. One criticism I have from years' past is that PR's guard often added movement for movement's sake alone. It was not particularly effective or all that difficult...more like window dressing. This year, they have some great movement statements that are purposeful and tend to involve a great deal of training/ technique. I don't know names, but I remember reading a guard instructor had been promoted to guard caption head this season. She (I belive it was a she) is doing a wonderful job imo.....the guard is clearly one of the corps' strongest assets this year. Annie Pelka is the Regiment's 2014 color guard caption head. She marched with Phantom for 4 years and has since been on Regiment's guard staff a number of times in recent years. If you go on Regiment's site, there is a listing of, and often biographies for, the entire Regiment staff. She appears to be a keeper. By the way, I know nothing abut the hair extensions so its up to fatbrassboy and eric49 to settle this once and for all. billj
Honestly, does it really matter whether or not they have hair extensions? All of the guards get so made up, what's the difference?

skevinp
Honestly, does it really matter whether or not they have hair extensions? All of the guards get so made up, what's the difference? There would certainly be nothing wrong with it if they do, but I have wondered about that the past few years. They have some seriously beautiful hair so compliments either to the stagers or the stylers. I couldn't blame anyone though for not wanting to have long hair to contend with in the heat and practice and grooming constraints of travel. Rocketman
As a "lifer" pretty much, I would like to see them get away from the same type of theme (death primarily). While this isn't the "what they should play thread", the Alpine Symphony by Richard Strauss would be a fantastic piece for them and there is already a built in theme. Now, this is where I'm going to lose a lot of you but, I would like them to consider some of the music of Alan Silvestri, primarily movie music. Perhaps my favorite soundtrack of his was from the first Judge Dredd movie. From my understanding, they let the girls know as soon as camps begin not to get a hair cut. I know my girlfriend never cut or trimmed hers all year until they revealed what they want with the hair. But if your hair is not long enough, they do wear extensions... gasp...

Granted many are not happy with Swan Lake but geez.. nothing like abandoning ship. Our biggest worries about the show are hair extensions??
