HornTeacher
That quip apparently dates to 2006. More here. Thanks for the link, N.E. Personally, I like the one which states "Political Correctness is tyranny with manners."

luv4corps
I think anyone who's out there marching deserves some recognition. I say why not enjoy every end of the spectrum competitively? There's some truly awesome shows down there that go unnoticed. And I agree, a corps with something to prove is a dangerous thing, and I can think of 3 or 4 from last year that have reason to be pretty passionate about what they're doing this summer. Going to be a blast to watch. Last year 15th - 20th was all over the place, was the most fun to watch competitively for me. So true. They all earn their stripes with blood, sweat and tears no matter what corps they march! Edited May 14, 2015 by luv4corps
Daave
Oooooooooo...I LIKE that!!!! May I have your permission to use it? Naw... like many thing on the internet, it too was borrowed. I should have used quotes and pledged the $1 to some guy who most likely didn't come up with it up either and got credit for it.
ExPitster
Now that most of the show reps are out there, let's give it a go... 1 Cadets - after seeing the clips of their closer music, wow...they are out for blood this year 2 Blue Devils - an 8-year string of top 2 finishes, can't see it ending yet 3 Crown - program seems solid for another medal run 4 Bluecoats - good momentum from last year but show likely ahead of its time 5 Cavaliers - climbing up inch by inch, great to hear the meat in the horn book 6 Phantom - hopefully a breath of fresh air amidst all these dark, brooding, intense programs 7 Vanguard - not sold on this program like some others; I'm sure drums will keep them in the mix 8 Blue Stars - still a bit of an unknown but they seem to have an upward trajectory 9 Blue Knights - have a feeling they could start strong then falter; loved last year's production but another esoteric theme is going to be tricky 10 Madison - hopeful they can remain relevant...is light-hearted/whimsical too anachronistic for today's DCI? 11 Troopers - seem ready to prove they belong this year 12 Crossmen - another solid show and likely to challenge above them 13 Colts - don't see any evidence to push them over the hump 14 BAC - this is purely speculation but I wonder if the dust is still settling after last year 15 Oregon - starting to make noise at the next level 16 Academy 17 Spirit 18 Blue Devils B 19 Pacific Crest 20 Cascades 21 Mandarins 22 Pioneer It looks to be an epic year...good luck to all performing groups! HornTeacher
This person is in for a surprise. I fear that many prognosticators are in for surprises, emc2, given that most predictions are based on little more than descriptions of show themes and/or individual corps' past records of accomplishment. That being said...the whole effort is still fun, isn't it? Edited May 21, 2015 by HornTeacher
ShutUpAndPlayYerGuitar
14 BAC - this is purely speculation but I wonder if the dust is still settling after last year Some good stuff. I think most of the predictions are fair. Regarding Boston, however, 14th seems pretty extreme. Last year's show was very high-risk and audacious for a middle-of-the-pack group. The drill design was especially exposed. Michael Lentz and the program staff weren't just trying to challenge the members, I really think they were trying to challenge current DCI conventions (they made a "G7" set for God's sake). Lentz isn't around anymore -- which is a shame, because drum corps needs more people like him -- but their staff core is pretty much the same. Plus, they added Adam Sage to visual/guard, which should help things. Whether the show design is avante-garde, ultra-conventional, or old-school ... BAC still has the talent and staff to stay firmly in finals. Plus none of the corps that finished behind Boston last year seem to be much stronger. The only one that would maybe have a shot is Madison (depending on how they do with their new staff).
