jwillis35 Posted August 9, 2015 Share Posted August 9, 2015 1ST - BLUECOATS Expecting the NOs and the IT WILL NEVER HAPPENs from all sorts of the same people that said they wouldn't medal this week and said they wouldn't move up to 2nd in finals week last year. If they can present another show that's just as fresh..................this could be their's. Writing was on the wall tonight. All sections are there. Visual is NO LONGER a weakness. 1st in content from both GE 2 judges. They did what everyone said they wouldn't do. They followed up Tilt with something just as competitive and just as well performed. Congratulations, keep it going next year. There is no doubt about this. The Bluecoats followed their 2014 presentation of TILT with another trend-setting show that I continue to say is the most futuristic show I've seen. Initially I thought they had another top 2 show and maybe could pull off the win. Who knew the top 4 were all going to be so amazing. But from a design perspective, many did think it would be hard to follow Tilt. Now we see what's next. My guess is they stay with minimalism for their music choices but perhaps add a tune in the mix that gives them a bump in music content. They are so good at abstract themes and I think they will go that route once again. It's no longer this Cadevalina stuff or the new Big 3 people keep referring to. The Bluecoats are one of the BIG BOYS. What we have is a top 4, not a BIG 3. And soon SCV may join that as well. They were right in the mix until the last few weeks. But their show was fantastic! Since my involvement with this activity from 1978 through it's evolving years, so many things go into fielding a competitive corps now! But, as of today if I had to guess, based on what I am seeing and hearing, and that's what it is, strictly a guess, my 2016 prediction would be: 1. Blue Devils 2. Crown 3. Cadets 4. Blue Coats 5. SCV 6. Madison Scouts 7. Blue Knights 8. Phantom Regiment 9. Tobias Posted August 9, 2015 Share Posted August 9, 2015 Crown- percussion improves and they know how to do GE. Guard and Brass always great. Cadets- they feature the guard properly. Already have stellar brass and percussion. BD- will always medal. SCV-just needs some tweaking and will shoot up the ranks. I remember the stories of those two corps having a severe dislike for each other back in the late '70s. I hope the current marching members don't behave like that. Why would anyone hate the Blue Stars? They are a great corps and family and everything is about the kids, and putting out a different kind of fun program.
