I'll also disagree a bit with the Cavaliers, I think that they're trying to re-assert their identity first and foremost, and come what may with the sheets. SCV and Crown I think are DEFINITELY following in BD's footsteps. If they weren't designing to the sheets they wouldn't have giant props, gimmicky uniforms and trombone features. Everyone's designing their shows to win now. That's the world we live in.

That's not strictly true. It's absolutely possible to hate on show design while still acknowledging the achievements of the performers (e.g. how I feel about early 2010s BD... ridiculous show designs, but enormously talented members). If the designers' impact toward the GE scores can be divested from the performer's execution, then the performers' execution can be divested from criticism of the design.

Judges make mistakes. That's all it says. There's a bunch of championship shows from several different corps that lots of observers feel won over better competition. I mean, if I say that BD last year deserved to win the championship, have I just insulted Bloo's members?

Alternatively, those are things that they decided would have great entertainment value, a la Cirque du Soleil (whose audio engineer they have on staff). Not everything that's new or different is strictly for the sheets.

Lentz had to put them there because he dumped on Boston who was beating them ...sounds good anyway...haha ...no clue

Lots more room to place corps and prevents insane 99+ scores a la BD 2014. thanks... missed this change completely

Still, I have to ask: do you see that your second sentence does not necessarily follow from your first sentence? Yes, some dislike of BD comes from fans who find them repetitive. (Although when was the last time they performed anything like this year's opener?) But if that quality isn't on the sheets, then your argument is with the sheets, not with BD, about what "champions should be". Your #### right my argument is with the sheets. Drum corps should be artistic, not formulaic.
