Why do these questions pop up everyday? Fluctuation in scores will happen. Some corps will have good and bad performances. Not only that, we're using partial panels for all these darn Midwest/East shows so the strengths and weaknesses of a corps will be highlighted depending on who is being paid to judge from night to night.6 points

Mr. Sybilski's responsibilities are the direction of the Emerald Brigade, the conductor of the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band and school musical. He also oversees the direction of the color guard program at Poway High School. Mr. Sybilski began teaching in California in 1994 at Central High School in Fresno. It's pretty funny that so many on here cry foul about slotting conspiracies and judging conspiracies, but when one corps moves up one freaking spot, the roof of DCP is blown the #### off. I don't know about you, but I'd much rather watch corps trading blows than having one dominate the other.3 points

While we disagree on the value of early season performance judge's commentary, I'm totally on board with your premise that it's unfair across regions. I'd love to see a rule implemented that makes it fair, if we're going to limit the panel in the early season.3 points

I am pretty sure Crown will have their changes implemented in the show tonight. I think Cadets will be close to 80 but won't break the 80 barrier......but for all of you out there I have seen the Cadets show three times now and their show is very difficult and when they finally clean it up it will be the year of GOLD! This is the year my friends wait and watch! Oh one other thing to mention the Cadets drum line is nothing but spectacular If you get a chance check them out.....3 points

Agreed. Shast10 is the musical choice for the show. 10 is the concept they're carrying through the show. It's easy, allows them to play, march and spin well and works. Not everyone wants a show to require a PhD to understand.3 points

Okay. Just ignore his comparison to BITD and pay attention to his first two sentences. His point still stands, regardless of whether you want to distract from it or not.3 points

I'm usually in agreement with their design choices - but this new tag ending idea has me questioning them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaBYIqMI2uc3 points

If scores don't matter, then why score? Is it more of an ego boost as opposed to how much a corps is improving or how less? I think scores do matter, regardless of whether or not there is a full panel and regardless of different corps in different shows. If they didn't matter, then I think it would be more logical for corps to start every show from zero.3 points

I know I'm getting sucked in to this, but I have been around the Boston Crusaders for over 50 years, I have friends who have marched in Alliance, 27th, Royal Brigade, Blessed Sacrament, North Star, Pembroke Imperials, Rockland Defenders and so on, and I have never heard that phrase that Guardling used regarding the term BAC. I have a feeling He made that up, along with most of what he posts here from his Mom's basement. While I do cry occasionally ( which I certainly will on our 75th), it will be for joy, and never because I've been behind anyone. Looking forward to a great celebration this week with family and friends!3 points

Proud parent of a 5th year Bloo mello here! There are 2 of them who joined the corps in 2011, along with the white knight. They're nicknamed Grams and Gramps this year. :) Both have one more year to go and they couldn't be happier than with their Bloo family! I can't WAIT to see this show live! From every video I've seen, they look and sound amazing--on every front! Yay for double visual blocks during spring training! I may see them as early as DATR but will definitely see them in Texas, then volunteering on the chuck truck beginning in Chester, Pa through to Indy. I'm just dying to see them at that stadium in Chester. It looks like an amazing venue. I'll periscope what I can when I see them. @msplange Anyway, what an incredible activity with a rich history!! I'm so thankful my daughter has been able to be a part of it.3 points

Again, I love the Scouts & root for them. The lessons learned from the Scouts organization, the Brothers, & Scott Stewart have & will stay with me for the rest of my life. The reason the corp has gone through numerous regime & staff changes is to improve the product & finals placement, but neither has happened, which is disappointing & frustrating. Based on all scores, right now the Scouts are in a fight just to make finals. I hope they find whatever it is that they are lacking because the activity needs the Scouts & drum corp is better when the Scouts are in finals, and even better when the Scouts are competitive. I hope the Boys surge after the mid season changes are implemented.3 points

So I have watched this year's show several times now and for the most part I like it. The end of American in Paris needs work, it is kind of a let down. I think back to 2005 with the company front that ended the song and that was effective. Also, the last 30 seconds of Organ Symphony are weak and without emotion. I hope this is rewritten musically and design wise. Looking forward to seeing this show evolve!2 points

Inquisitive minds want to know... Does Bowling Green have a Lawn Bowling Green, and if so, is the Lawn Bowling Green in Bowling Green, really Green ?2 points

I agree. They are being out designed. It's not a money issue. If there is extra equipment, that's primarily coming through sponsorships and smart financial planning by turning equipment turn-over into a significant profit center. Madison was the reason I fell in love with drum corps. Watching the show this year is difficult. It's a show stuck well in the past and good luck with attracting extremely experienced members to this corps next year.2 points

There does not have to be a conspiracy theory at work here. Human nature being what it is, it is simply good public relations to support the efforts of judges that down the road will be judging you in shows. If West Coast Corps.. and their Show sponsors.. are supporting the costs of judges, and other geographical region based Corps are not, by contrast, I think I know human nature enough to know that in a close battle, the group that financially supports the judging community can't possibly be seen at a disadvantage in financially providing the judging community employment. This is not in the realm of conspiratorial fixing, and all that silliness we sometimes hear. Its principally the result of the workings of simple human nature, and knowing a little bit about how Humans naturally react to goodwill and financial support that comes their way or to their fellow colleagues in the biz. This stuff is, afterall, not rocket science here that we are dealing with.2 points

One of my brothers was at Drums On last night and had some interesting takeaways. First off, he feels that the Blue Coats (and the top 6 for that matter) are in an entirely different category as it pertains to their production(s) and what's taking place on the field regarding equipment, sound, staging, etc, etc. He told me that it's as if DCI needs to come up with 2 completely different categories in world class...Drum Corps, and then Uber Field Stage Production Super Corps. Or, the reasonably priced, most bang for your buck, run-of-the-mill classic drum corps, AND THEN, the super-rich, anything goes, for the rich and famous, craziest production on earth SUPER CORPS!...He concluded, Madison can't compete in the Uber Corps world. Furthermore, he shared with me that the word on the street is that the Scouts to a great degree have essentially become nothing more than a feeder corps for the upper echelon Uber Corps. The days of the long term member are apparently gone from the Scouts. If a guy can’t make it this year with the Super Corps, he comes and cuts his teeth with Madison...Then, it's on to greener pastures. If this is true, then Madison will never win the talent war. Furthermore, as Vince Ferrera points out, Madison has financial water pistols going up against battle ships in regards to finances...Always follow the money. I guess I'm feeling quite blessed to have marched when I did...Simpler times.2 points

DCI is attempting to bring in new , younger blood to its judging panels. Thats a good thing, imo. Some of them were judging Drum Corps shows when Jetro Tull's Band were packing their bags for the Woodstock Concert.(... the 1st Woodstock ). These particular DCI judges have probably had 10 Colonoscopies by now, HornTeacher.2 points
