So do people deserve redemption and a second chance or not?

Serve the penalty first..... and there’s this thing about feeling remorse to deserve redemption

IOW how can you feel redemption when you don’t think you did anything wrong

Redemption is for those that ask for forgiveness.

I don't know the answer. There are crimes that are so horrific that I dont believe a second chance is deserved.. Dahmer, Gacy, etc...

It sounds like his position is that he didn’t do anything wrong, which leads me to wonder whether:

1. He knows what he did and knows it is wrong, but is claiming innocence in order to avoid punishment.

2. He knows what he did but doesn’t think it was wrong.

3. He is in complete denial and doesn’t think he did anything to begin with.

4. He lacks the capacity to care about anyone else or anything other than what he wants, and thus doesn’t really understand what wrongness is other than something to avoid the appearance of to others who do.

5. Something else.

I’m going with 4.  Sociopathic behavior.

What are the 7 traits of a sociopath?
Profile of the Sociopath
  • Glibness and Superficial Charm.
  • Manipulative and Conning. They never recognize the rights of others and see their self-serving behaviors as permissible. ...
  • Grandiose Sense of Self. ...
  • Pathological Lying. ...
  • Lack of Remorse, Shame or Guilt. ...
  • Shallow Emotions. ...
  • Incapacity for Love.
  • Need for Stimulation.
