Good idea or bad idea? He shouldn't even have the choice as to whether or not he can. By the weekend he should not be listed on any of the corps info. That would be the worst thing he could do since these allegations have come to light, and would be ducking pathetic if he were to even be allowed at camp. At this point he has no right to be anywhere near those kids.

Hell, he should probably sell his car, move to a new apartment, and shave his head. He is probably persona non grata wherever he goes right now Who said he/YEA aren't moving fast enough ... Hopkins DID just move to a new apartment within the past few weeks.
Popular Post Liahona
To the victims of George Hopkins' sexual abuse et al: It took a lot of courage to tell us and the world about this. You didn’t do anything to deserve this. We care about you and are here to listen or help in any way we can. This shouldn’t have happened to you. To The Cadets BoD: It appears that a culture existed that prevented yea.org employees or volunteers from expressing concerns in fear of director retaliation. Where is the employee or volunteer to turn to when unethical practices (or in this case sexual abusive behaviour) are occurring right in front of their eyes? Honestly, you should be ashamed that you let such a culture go on for decades and literally did nothing about it. To the Cadets Alumni: I really feel sorry for you right now. I understand the "pride" that comes from knowing that "The Cadets" was made up of high achievers. And since you shared that collective experience, the simple fact of just "being" an alumnus can identify and project some of that tremendous achievement of the organization onto yourselves. That pride can't be very refulgent right now in light of the current situation. To George Hopkins: Resign. 12
FTNK
Housing and rehearsal sites must be racing to cancel contracts. Would any school official in their right mind even let him into the site?

Good idea or bad idea? Bad idea. First, given his stream of consciousness speaking, he’ll probably say too much. Second, young people today have no tolerance for this behavior. There could be members who will not attend camp if he is present. It’s very unlikely they’ll want to save their embattled director.
jeffmolnar
My heart aches both for alums and current marching members. They don't deserve this. I'd hate to see this take down the entire organization. George needs to resign yesterday.

I will be surprised if they are even able to field this summer. Staff Issues and recruiting will be the issue here. The Cadets can probably weather the storm till this sorts itself out. skek64
I just UN-friended George. Maybe the few thousand other people who are on his friends' list might want to consider doing the same.
