  1. Every word you write may be true about George's behavior towards alumni, YEA employees and others in the normal course of their daily interactions. Maybe he now regrets his terrible behaviors towards so many people (not just alums). However, that has zero to do with his being a sexual predator against the women who have come forward, including two who were marching members at the time he preyed on them, and the two most recent victims the prosecutor was able to use to charge him in the legal case. The idea that he would put his hand on your leg at dinner when you first met does not show a person who has had much of a change of heart on the predator side of things to me. That was just an exploratory move. His and Kristy's FB profiles both show they have been together since 2015, so he had no business going after you, again IMO.

  2. Yeah he acknowledged he was wrong for stealing a kiss PERIOD. And you are buying it hook line and sinker. So women are baring their souls by talking about the most painful thing in their lives. And willing to testify in court where they could have perjury penalty if found lying. Think about it, multiple people take a chance of throwing their lives away for a corps alumni association? Someone thinks that is the most important thing in the world or it’s a bs line. Worse part of your posts is you ignore what he is really being accused of and refuse to answer direct questions where the answer would make GH look bad. IMO he likes to talk about himself and he found someone willing to listen and buy what he is selling. done until the trial

  3. You told him no, that was a great thing on your part, and I have no reason to doubt you. But again, a real man WITH HONOR will not touch your leg (in the manner and intent in which you described). And please pay close attention here: you are now seeming to defend and justify the behavior. So please, please, please be careful on how you proceed.

  4. Unmarried Real Men with Honor do NOT put their hands on a women's leg as a hint, wink wink, nudge nudge, PERIOD. Geez!!!

  5. oh dear i mentioned i said hello to him at Sheetz. how gossipy. oh horrors. I mean I said Hi to Terri and Big W at DCA this past September. if I mention that here, am i gossipy too? wait...i went to pay my respects when Jim's wife passed away...even gave him a hug ( even if he came up to my armpits). Is that gossipy? Personally the saddest thing in this whole sordid mess outside of whats happened to the 12 women is the damage done to people are close to people close to Hopkins. Talk about collateral damage...people I have known my whole life tainted by association, yet did not one ###### thing wrong. or the kids in C2 now without a corps. or the kids that were in CWP or CWG.

  8. This is a wonderful personal tale re. " the dating scene ".... " your personal assessment/ experience with both married, divorced, unmarried men, and so forth. And it is to be respected. But none of this has anything at all to do with why the Lehigh Pennsylvania Prosecutors office believes that they have sufficient information in their possession from their investigation of George Hopkins to proceed with his arrest and charge of multiple counts of sexual assault, including that of Rape, of 2 women victims in their County of Pennsylvania. You understand that the fact that he apparently " respected " you in your ever so brief talks, dinner with you, has no bearing at all on what his alleged crimes he might have committed with others. Correct ? Some of the worst rapists, murderers on the face of the planet also had moments of kindness to others. For example, most of the Mafia men would be out raping, torturing, murdering, carving up, men and women at 4pm in the afternoon, then by 6pm they were bringing home roses, candy for their Mother, their Wife and/ or Mistress that they treated with " respect " 24-7. You seem like an intelligent women. So you understand that your acknowleged ever so brief experience with GH is not why the Prosecutor is charging him with crimes committed on two women victims of the crimes of rape and sexual assault, correct ?

  10. Gee what a gentleman. When I go out to dinner with a woman I barely know and put my hand on her leg.....oh wait, I just remembered, that’s something I would never do. This is not normal behavior. Normal perv behavior perhaps. But thanks. Maybe the prosecutor can use you as a witness.

  13. But you are more than willing to utilize an incomplete passage for your own justification and throw that into the face of another; ironically it was also done in a judgmental manner!!! Which, by the way, is the typical misuse of said passage!!!

  16. LOL... I asked Brenda for permission to kiss her when I asked her out, in 2013. I also apologized to her for me being so awkward... I hadn't asked a woman out since 1989, when I met Barbara. By '13, I was a bit rusty at that sort of thing.

  18. I’m sensing a little cognitive dissonance within this thread. You can’t, logically, believe both GH and the women who are accusing him. Any attempt at such is self satisfying self delusion, IMO. (I sincerely don’t mean this as an attack or slam... I simply don’t know how else to put it.) This subject is too important to just tiptoe around.

  19. I must, am compelled, to take issue with this posting. The sin in the passage you reference is sexual (not abruptness). And in typcal fashion, like others who also attempt to use this passage as justification to not judge, you failed to complete the passage. She was told at the end, "Now go and sin no more." Thus if she had willingly and purposfully continued with her sexual sin after this incident she would have been even more guilty than before. The same holds true for anyone today who claims they have repented yet willingly and purposfully still continue down the same sinful path.

  22. This may be one of my favorite posts on DCP ever! I’m not a dinosaur opposed to innovation, but for me part of what made DCI special was how the designers could create sounds and visuals within the limitations that they had. Zingali’s “Cross to Cross” would be less impressive if the members did it on go carts.

  23. And based on recent events, it now appears that, where DCI is concerned, common sense and common decency cannot be assumed in the rendering of such a determination.

  28. Welp, I've been around this thing for a long time. I was at Spirit when Magic of Orlando couldn't feed it's kids. The joke then was Lose Weight Like Magic. I remember corps in the 90's having to ditch coaches for school buses. I was on the bus when I heard our food truck driver (at Spirit) couldn't get into Canada for .... various reasons.... we later heard he had an outstanding warrant don't know if that was ever true or not. I was with another corp in the early 2000's where one of instructors had to leave mid tour, turned out mom of one his kids back at his high school found out they were a thing. doh.... I'm not defending any of this stuff, I'm just saying it's been a round a long time and I'm happy to see that they are finally doing something about it. Now isn't the time to boycott now is the time to show support for an activity that's trying to do the right thing. I aged out a long time ago, and just 2 weeks ago I took my son to his first call-back camp so he could march a drum corp like I did and I'm proud of it. I don't post often, but I've been a register member of this board since 2003 reading all the comments every year.

  31. Nominate corps most-missed from the activity due to a specific "niche" they filled I'll start this off with Dutch Boy - perennial Canadian champion which I remember featuring fun, audience-friendly reps with lots of soloist and a glamorous all female guard. FUN was Dutch Boy's middle name 1990 they jumped into finals in Buffalo NY https://www.dutchboydrumcorps.com/ http://www.dcxmuseum.org/index.cfm?view=corpslist&Corpsid=33 What corps do you think are most-missed because they've left a "hole" in the activity

  37. "It was a dark day in the history of the DCI Drum and Bugle Corps Activity because they sacrificed one of their own……" More like Roman sacrificed his own organization. The best way he could have helped the corps was to step down and not be involved, but he didn't and DCI doesn't want any part of it. It is a dark day for his legacy.

  39. i actually have never said he is guilty. I have however laughed at your claim that the alumni you refer to put these women up to coming forward, putting their names out there, and getting a district attorneys office to bring charges just because they wanted him out and it's all really false and just a big misunderstanding. thats what i am calling bull #### on

  40. Besides, I can speak for married men everywhere, that when we are out to dinner, its just as likely we are reaching to move the leg under the table, then for our wife's leg under the table. And if you're married long and well enough, it could just as likely be the grand son's high chair leg you are foolin' around with at the restaurant's table.

  46. You all know you’re not going to change anybody’s mind in this, right? Meanwhile, while you argue the parsing of words, if you would take a few steps back from the circular arguments of 10 people here on DCP, I think you would see there’s a bigger more fundamental picture that was painted from the Arsenal debacle: By their quick and severe response to Arsenal, in the public perception DCI has demonstrated they care more about the image of DCI than they do about cleaning their house of abusers. And that’s some bad damage to the DCI brand. Ironically, exactly the opposite of Dan’s intended effect.

  47. I disagree that there was pull and push outside of Texas. I went to a TX “BOA school” and followed the top groups at nationals during that time. Everyone was still chasing The Cavaliers in design. That corps designed circles around most of the top H.S. groups and their cheesy props, voice overs, silly costumes, etc. Cavies got their GE the hard way, without relying on external “crutches.” TX was obviously better about not giving into BOA nonsense, but nationally you still had bands like Carmel and Marian Catholic who would’ve fit right in at the UIL state marching contest. Doing something wacky and different isn’t inherently “pushing the activity.” It’s just being wacky and different. Covering the entire field with a tarp isn’t a feast for my eyes, because my eyes are rolling into the back of my head. It’s such a juvenile demand for attention. Instead of generating interest with your actual performance, you demand that I pay attention to your giant prop that’s burning a hole in my retinas. Extremely lame, and so very “high school.” Innovation is born from limitations. You mentioned sports, but I don’t think that comparison works like you want it to. In basketball they might slightly change the rules from time to time, but the court is the same size with 2 hoops at the same height. In soccer they might change how certain penalties work, but they still don’t let you pick up the ball with your hands and run. Coaches have to design their plays around each game’s limitations. That’s what makes them beautiful. DCI giving in to the BOA prop arms race has been super disappointing for me to watch. That’s not innovation, that’s just claiming freebie GE points because you weren’t a good enough designer to get them the real way. I get why it’s done — it’s an easier, more reliable way of securing GE points. That doesn’t make it more impressive, though, and at the end of the day, that’s what I want out of a DCI show. To be impressed.
