Crown barely played any of it. There is PLENTY more of that piece. I bet 99% of people on here have no idea what comes after the first 30 seconds that they used in 2013.2 points

My hunch is with the change in media production costs went up. Mike was probably too generous in what he charged. Here's the kicker for DCA: this is lost money. People who had no desire to go to Rochester now won't be going OR paying to watch at home. There were technical issues with prelims in year one which was the venues fault. No major glitches since that. I don't know how many people paid for the stream. But DCA now goes from getting $100 from me to $0 if they aren't doing it. DCA needs to look hard in the mirror at the business model because as business around them changes, they don't seem to be. And it's slowly strangling them2 points

The Heroâs Journey is a universal tale found in every culture since the dawn of civilization. It is the adventure of The Hero, who goes out and achieves great deeds on behalf of the group, tribe, or civilization. These stories are often about moments that redefine us as individuals, and the struggle that can unfold […] ... From my POV, Crown is uber-sharing this season. No need for posting convoluted hints on DCP ;-)1 point

Well, it's not a "pale blue dot", but the earlier artwork did remind me a little of a planetary night sky with city lights. Maybe "dark blue dot" ... after the lights went out? The Earth, post-apocalypse?1 point

Listened to Pines again this weekend, really enjoy it and looking forward to the Cadets playing it but it strikes me as a song for rebuilding1 point

The solo violinist is pretty good looking, which is nice lol. But I don't wanna put her up on a pedestal :)1 point

They've released a few videos on Snapchat with their excerpt from Young Person's Guide, sounds like they've only been using the finale. Three words: lots of notes.1 point

As a Tuba guy, I'm loving this thread! It's about time that we get some sort of recognition! Best Contra/Tuba line........I'd have to say CBC 95, BD 98, BD 03 and Cadets 03.1 point

BITD, Star of Indiana, most seasons, had outstanding contrabass lines, imo. Before Star ( the late 70's.. 1980 ) the 27th Lancers for a few seasons at their height there, had great contrabass sections, imo.1 point

Yup. The Cadets 2005 DCI Title winning show " The Zone " was a musical & visual masterpiece from start to finish. Still holds up well today, imo.. after a decade. As for the following years show in 2006 that attempted to replicate the 2005 magic with a similar type themed show........they swung... and missed. ( it happens sometimes ). If a show is good, uniforms and its colors won't hold it back. If a show is a dud however, no manner of exquisite color coordinated uniforms, nor brilliantly coordinated uniform and uniform colors with the chosen theme can save it. As such, the 2006 Cadets show was not going to medal no matter what the Corps chosen uniforms, and uniform colors were that season. The Cadets have won DCI titles with their traditional uniform style and colors, and they have finished in 19th place in DCI with pretty much the exact same uniform and colors. Clothes don't make the Man ( nor Women ). That said, If Superman came out wearing an all black cape, and the Lone Ranger came out wearing a gold colored mask, it sure would be a bit unsettling for audiences. And The Cadets traditional colors go back further than Superman or the Lone Ranger characters.1 point

For me, the 2016 uniforms certainly beat the heck out of the 2006 unis... with the multi-colored backpieces for that freak show. That is the most low-rent production I have ever seen from the Cadets. LOL. Well beneath their usual high level of professionalism.1 point

When you talk about performers we don't see the same soloist in multiple seasons with the same corps as in the people you mentioned. Back in that day we did.1 point

Thats very important to have some idea on too on the background of the potential audience. If the newbie is... as you said here.... " a lady of the Street", I might consider taking a pass altogether on showing them ANYTHING...( especially your wallet. )1 point

I'd probably have to go with the end of Cadets 2000: the sop thing, the tenor thing, the badazzz ending. Even 16 years later I don't think that chunk of show has aged at all & would still blow newbies away1 point

GH is color blind and thought it was maroon, just like he thought the black was deep maroon? or Rudy's last joke before he departed Allentown for Concord?1 point

Keep these videos coming... all Corps. Also, consider playing snippets from the show, or even brass and or drums playing something for Real.... heck, even just the Corps encore songs in practice mode. The elevator music dub overs from all these Corps gets a bit lame after awhile, imo.1 point

enjoying a majority of the shows for the 3rd year in a row. haven't said that since the 90's. funnel cakes at JBC1 point
