100% where I am. Whether it’s videos or in person, every note I hear is a note we didn’t get in 2020. Drum corps is back and we should celebrate every moment.5 points

I thought it was worth the drive. The feed was good, but the sound could have been cranked up for all us old timers in the audience of 40 or so. Agree with Brian on Acheson, but he didn't really have a whole lot of time to speak. Tammy Faye (lol) chatted on endlessly and spoke over Rondo quite a bit. They showed bits of Cavaliers and BC camps. Cavaliers should be fun, Hook-em. I don't think they showed or mentioned BC's props, Lance. The highlight for me was the Bluecoats rehearsal, too. It wasn't even the music or the show, but the kids themselves and the looks on their faces - pure magic as every face looked so at home with everything and so glad to be back.5 points

So glad the members are getting to experience this. Young people put on a tough face, but this has been particularly traumatic 18 months for that age group. I'll bet it was therapeutic to be focusing on something so productive, and I'm seeing and feeling a lot of joy from members of PR and other corps. Brings back some great memories for me as a fan, so must be really special for alumni and parents of current members. Yay!5 points

So the results are in! My wife’s 90+ year old step-mother is officially a Bluecoats fan! And I had nothing to do with it!4 points

To the performers tonight, a huge thank you. Please know how happy dci fans are for all of you. You all are amazing.4 points

I respectfully disagree with this. In the case of the Blue Devils I think people forget (or maybe do not know) that they run a very large organization. It's not just the A corps. If you take the A corps out of it (where many of the members come from all over) what you have is a mostly local/regional organization that services a lot of kids. They have the B and C corps, Diabalo Wind Symphony, Yamaha School of Music, winter drum lines and guard, a special needs guard, and they run a lot of educational programs and clinics. I bet they have 350+ kids in the region who partake in various services offered, and that's NOT counting the A corps. By staying local and not taking part in this DCI exhibition tour the Blue Devils are re-building their local organization and tending to the local and regional youth they offer services to. They are not abandoning anyone. The members that marched the A corps who may have had a year or two left to march are certainly talented enough to do so. There was plenty of opportunity.4 points

They look like a young corps. At this point, with so few weeks in the season they are performing extremely well. Much better than other seasons much farther into the season. There is a part in the closer where the lower brass is displayed. The sound portrayed is so reminiscent of what is expected of Phantom. It is also so well played. Watch out 2022. This is a corps on the move. Such a solid foundation. Bravo to Phantom!3 points

Meebe. Who wants to know? If you are with the PBS police, you have to identify yourself. It’s the law.3 points

It’s a little bit wet in Marion Indiana right now 😬 Hoping it’ll clear up here soon.3 points

Just uploaded a bunch of spring training videos to FloMarching including a full run of parts 1-4 by the bloopit. Click here to watch. Still have some video out for approval by the staff so there may be more coming.3 points

Yes. I hope we don’t lose any Corps for financial reasons this season. Time will tell.3 points

They’re like that on and off the field. The vibes are good everywhere at all times.2 points

I was relaying to my roommate about how in the countdown celebration they mentioned how BAC were "taking advantage of not having any rules" to follow and or whatever, and how that was maybe kind of a nod to when they got docked for using baby powder years ago at LOS after using it all season with no complaints. And she said, "OH MY GOD they should TOTALLY use baby powder at finals!!!" I know they won't, but... I agree. 🤣2 points

Ugh, what a disappointment! The audio was awful and I don’t know if it was the feed from FloMarching or the theater. My complaint fell upon deaf ears. It sounded like it was one channel coming from the front of the theater. I felt Dan Acheson had the chance to instill confidence in the health of the activity but failed miserably. I was wanting him to address how the pandemic set DCI back, how they responded and their plans for the future health of the organization. Zero. Zilch. Nada! You know, some transparency. Between he and Rondo everything is just sunshine and lollipops. Tammy Faye had the chance to give some show details and hype The Academy and their 20th anniversary but basically only said, Phoenix hot. Well, duh! The Bluecoats live rehearsal was fun. Their drum major was the highlight of the live feed. Also, the Phantom Regiment drum major’s segment was first rate. She knew how to instill confidence in the activity. DCI needs a major overhaul and people like her need to take over.2 points

Jurassic Lancer may have called in a large pledge while drinking bourbon. (See earlier post)2 points

And , from what I understand at the moment , many pledges made to PBS did not materialize .2 points

If only there were a corps called The Waffles, huh? Man, they'd be popular here. One corps? Holy cow. So many loves (as I'm sure a song somewhere was written).. I guess I'd have to go with the corps I most respect and that would be Phantom Regiment. They're endured, they've survived, they've been champions, but most of all, for whatever reason I've never been able to put my finger on, they oooze and exhibit that drum corps pride more than any corps I know.2 points

I was pretty clear about who I was disparaging. A handful of toxic posters on here hardly represent dcp as a whole or dci fandom as a whole, thank goodness. Wishing nothing but positive thoughts for BD as they navigate through this, and looking forward to their next production. 🙂2 points

That’s interesting. The last movie I saw was 2019 in 1917. I guess a sci-fi film on a wartime budget didn’t make enough of an impression to bring me back to the theater.2 points

Did people whinge this badly when Santa Clara Vanguard came out with Phantom of the Opera again in 1989? It's a new show and different pieces. Let it be.2 points

I do like all of the shows selected...but I think I'm going to pass on this one...I agree with other posters about fans not getting a chance to vote...Why didn't they just have a LIVE theater performance at the first scheduled show? There is always something extra special about seeing it live IMO...2 points

Lexie told me the other day that she expects the Devils will win it all in 2022. The right stuff where dreams are made.2 points

just to echo some other great points in here about the beatles, look at a song ike blackbird, and think of how many great covers/interpretations by other great artists/producers this song has gone through. or a song like something, which sinatra covered in a completely different way that was mega popular for a whole other generation. some of the beatles best recorded performances are arrangements that differ wildly from the album versions. obviously I'm a fan, but i didn't really discover the beatles until my mid 20s, sorry to say. these are different pieces from 2019, and like i said, tons of beatles songs are great for good arrangers to play with and interpret in new ways. looking forward to this exhibition.2 points

Bluecoats 2021 isn't a "new take" on a previous show (2019). It is a NEW show that just happens to be by the composers they used in 2019. Lennon, McCartney, Harrison wrote enough great music that several corps could do shows based on their library...without a need to repeat anything.2 points

I liked several moments: 1. The traditional top-of-event fanfare - the Tom Blair Television Anthem - always gets the heart racing. 2. The Blue Knights rehearsal had the sincere remark that their program will try to capture that moment when you first saw your first drum corps show. 3. After each of the 5 full-length shows, an analysis of caption placements for the program was shared.1 point

This is why I want answer from someone who knows how these things work. Does DCI pay the theaters? How is the admission collected split between theater & DCI? Are there middlemen involved? Just curious.1 point

My last time in the theatre was the 2019 DCI Preview show. I'm kinda excited to see this tonight. Got my Cavaliers t-shirt on (the one that's big enough to not accentuate the man boobs, not the one I still have from 1979) got my popcorn allowance from the Ayatollah. All I need is a 2015 Crown shako and I'm ready to rip.1 point

i've always loved that push into the pachelbel at the end. great intuition by the arranger to go from the darker closer piece to the quick drum fill to the pachelbel. gets me every time.1 point

I don't follow the Bluecoats. But I just saw one of their staff members post that tonight's run through is part of the broadcast.1 point

I don't agree with some of what you post, but there are times when your comments make me laugh. Pageantry Leech will be forever ingrained in my memory.1 point

It’s a fresh show. If you think of 2019 as act one of a play, 2020 as the longest intermission ever, then 2021 is act two. I don’t think many people think after act 1, Hamilton had nothing more to say; act two completed the play. Try thinking of Lucy that way.1 point

The people here "know nothing about anything?" Shame on you for disparaging all of the DCP members.1 point

I don't see whats meaningless about performing for all your friends and family, but to each their own I guess.1 point

Crown 2010 Mahler 2. They spent SO much time on this and much of it was in the "pre-show" and therefore not credited. But it was absolutely brilliant. SCV 2009 Appalachian Spring (yeah Cadets did it first but SCV did it properly) SCV 1999,2000 Barber and Bartok And @jjeffeoryjust listed Star 1990. So I'll add Star 1991 Respighi.1 point
