  1. Texas Audition Day Recap. (from my FB page) BRASS ONLY CAMP Nearly 40 brass in attendance. Which is great for a one day camp. Wow! What a great day!! Matt Stratton and his staff are doing a great job. We are well ahead of plan with the quality of brass that will be on the field this summer. If the brass stays on this path, they are going to shock a lot of people with the level of improvement. The members have to stay dedicated and committed to the program. Justin Moore and Ron Lambert both your levels of attention to detail are both professional and friendly. You can't have a great drum corps without a great admin team and you two, along with Denise Bonfiglio, Michelle, and the team all of you form is going to give us a fighting chance. Conversations that end with "were on that!" will make many people, and most importantly the membership, very happy. Joyce Tsuchiya Litwitz Thank you so much for coming out and spending the day with us. Its great when alumni come to camps and not only watch the corps over the day, but offer so much help... It was great to sit and talk with you and get to know you more. Joyce is a part of the "first female guard alumni" and has so much history to share. I can't wait to see how organized the Southwest US Cadet alumni region is going to be. We need support not only from the NJ crew, but from Cadets everywhere! Laura VanDoren, Please tell Donnie for me (since he doesn't use FaceTwitter) that when he talks, I listen. 40+ years of knowing each other and I am in awe of his history and knowledge. I learn so much with every conversation. To have him around mentoring the staff and talking to the members is going to make this Class of Cadets even better. How could they not be with DVD around. We live only three hours apart. We need to get together for dinner more. Jacob Gall. Dude. Thank you. You hospitality by opening up your school to us was a 10! I hope we left it cleaner than we found it, because that is the "Cadet way." If you need anything from me, you know where to find me. To all of those that donated to help reduce the cost of this camp on my FB page, your efforts and kindness did certainly that. More alumni need to give, even a little, whenever they can. This group of Cadets deserve that support. Let's give it to them! Cadets 2020 ... Can't wait!

  6. Your feelings on the matter have been noted... Time and time again. It’s time to move on bro. We get it... you don’t approve of the direction of the corps.

  7. Haha substandard education. As the only non-Badger in my house, I chuckled at that (but don’t tell them!). Yes, my daughters already have been told that after the money runs out we’re moving in with them. Our boys are slobs. I’d rather not live with them.

  8. You’re referring to USC’s band I presume? Man, I would think a man of your advanced age would have adopted a more nuanced approach to life and learned to appreciate that all groups bring to the table things you can enjoy. Heck, all my kids attended UW (Madison), all played in the marching band, all marched in at least one Rose Parade, all played in at least one Rose Bowl. That’s pretty special. And it wouldn’t have happened had they attended my alma mater haha. I appreciate and enjoy the Wisconsin band, while at the same time acknowledging it's not everyone’s cup of tea. That “stop at the top” marching they do sacrifices tone quality for sure, but enhances the visual. And that WAS a fumble dang nab it

  11. A big shout out to Chris and his team for the $200,000 reduction in the debt this past year. Great job thinking about our future. Hugs, see everyone soon. 2020 is here. The opportunities are now endless! BOOM! Keep up the good work. Peace

  12. That’s awesome! Congrats! But since you won’t be needing those seats in front of me at LOS, I have a couple of friends who would be interested in buying them from you... 😂

  19. Can you say with unqualified assurance that DCI has given the Cadets permission to compete this summer?

  20. There isn't much to explain. Caveat, IF you have been paying any attention to Madison the last 10 years (or more). If not, go bone up on said subject then come back. Putting it bluntly the whole lets be "inclusive" thing now for letting girls in seems a little like I dare say a ploy to avoid looking at the raging dumpster fire that isn't based on it's membership. It's why I stated earlier I could have bet quite a bit the new DM would be female. Don't always mean to be so pessimistic and negative but this reads like textbook misdirection if ever there was one.

  22. When your team gets home cooking like this touchdown call (you can see Charles White fumbled on about the 2 yard line) you’ll win most times. However we’ll always have the 1989 Rose Bowl.

  28. You know, I’m from Michigan, but lived in Columbus for 14 years. As much as I hate admit it, TBDBITL is far superior to Michigan’s band. So what the heck, I O!

  35. Would you please clarify your meaning of THAT? I'm not following. EDIT: Never mind, I get it now. You named them each as "Directors" instead of Board Members. I thought you were referring to other corps directors. NM I doubt anyone on their prior board knew how to read the financial statements well enough to challenge The Ego. Clearly, they failed in their fiduciary responsibility. If I were Cadets' counsel, I'd surely be looking at the recoverable assets of each one of them to use to pay any GH settlement or, better, to help right the Cadets' ship.

  36. I don't recall much, if any talk of financial mismanagement as the allegations against GH began to roll out. But then, lots of people were too busy shouting extreme exaggerations like "Children were raped!!!" that tended to suck up all of the air in the room and overshadowed the actual story unfolding.

  40. Looking forward to the show and tell tomorrow. I wish I could post pics here but I’m too old to figure that out 😭😜 My son sent pics of his new horn and the new horns of others. They are working hard, and I am excited to hear more than warmups tomorrow! Drama or not, the kids have great energy. Looking forward to a great year with the Scouts.

  46. I got to go to their January camp show and tell this morning, some very interesting and exciting stuff. They seem to be going after a mix of very recognizable music as well as more obscure stuff. Also some very interesting plans for at least one part of their show, something I'm not sure has really been done to the extent they are attempting. They also sound great. Should be a very exciting season!

  47. it's something. "Snarky" might be a good word in the finale of this Cheer series, which I saw last night - the producers were not allowed to film the championship in Daytona - the activity is covered by a streaming service pay-per-view and all the families that couldn't make the championships were back home logging in on their phones/computers. The streaming service "Varsity" is akin to our "FloMarching" service - while the cheer circuit (akin to DCI) also heavily controlled the activities message. Neither seemed particularly pleased with this netflix series the other main message of the finale was "what's next" for the performers as this was the end of the road - there is no professional next step (other than to become a tech/instructor. It all sounded very familiar highly recommend for anyone interested. If you're not - that's fine. But the parallels with Drum Corps are stark and illustrative carry on!
