  1. Music of James Brown, Don Ellis, Billie Eilish, Nina Simone, and Todd Terje... I’m excited!

  2. Understand weather is bad in Wi this morning.... anyone want to blame MS board for that?

  3. The Crossmen fit that same criteria when a group from Texas formed a new entity with no DCI history. I am not sure why this is such a big deal to generate these posts. At this point, the entire basis of these anti-Cadet posts is based on supposition and unproven guesses. Why not wait until the actual information comes out from the only places that count, The Cadets and DCI?

  4. Heck... I remember hearing that "drum corps died" in 1971, my first year marching. Maybe I should have gotten out then when the getting was good!!!

  5. My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with a girl who saw Cadets pass-out at 31 Flavors last night.

  6. This is the perfect example of what I mentioned earlier. Someone making speculation about what The Cadets/YEA might be doing followed by someone assuming it what they are doing.

  7. BAC jumped 6 places from 2016-2017, PC 6 places from 2018-19, and Spirit 5 places from 2017-18. Not saying that Scouts will in 2020, but big leaps have happened in the last few years.

  8. Striving to understand would be based on factual information, not aimless guesswork. It doesn’t threaten me at all. I just do not think that the Cadets need any bogus stuff right now, as they work through their business plan. I would turn it around. Why do you want to want to engage in pointless discussion negative to the organization, especially when not based on real information?

  9. And even when first hand knowledge is presented, the speculation and mind-reading continues. Confused why any drum corps fans would hope for the demise of any corps. The current Cadets management team has been dealing with a very challenging situation. A little benefit of the doubt might just be beneficial to all concerned.

  10. "Yikes is that what's really happening? In that case..." reads a lot more like a reaction to what you believe to be a factual statement, like "I can't believe that's what's happening!" or "That is really surprising!" than a genuine question. You follow it up with "This is more precarious than I knew" implying that you believe the statements in the post you are replying to be factual despite the original poster admitting they have no idea what is actually going on. You follow it up with "I hope that's not the situation but under the shroud of secrecy that exists, it's hard to know." You are considering this random person's speculation with equal weight to people who are actually involved in the organization and assuming the worst. It is a perfect example of how this stuff spirals out of control.

  11. man - it's like a bunch of 80s Garfield Cadets stole of bunch of these anonymous posters girlfriends back in the day...

  12. The voice of reason...thank you sir! The cynicism and speculation in this thread is getting beyond ridiculous.

  13. Can you refresh me on what two years the Crossmen had to compete in Open class, first when they became a "new" corps when YEA! took them over and second when they left YEA! and became a "new" corps based in Texas?

  14. It’s important to feel valued if you donate. I’m glad to hear that BD values their donors.

  17. Until the Cadets/YEA and DCI put out real information, everything discussed is irrelevant, as it is not based on any real evidence. What is the point of this back and forth based on conjecture?

  18. Amen! It has been 7 years since my favorite show of the summer has won a World Championship so I'd like to really pull for the leader. I thought I had a lock for sure with Bluecoats 2019 but obviously that didn't happen unfortunately.

  19. Well not to be a PITA (I am anyway lol). Carolina Gold is having rehearsals and the like and not approved..... still think people stirring crap pot with itty bitty spoon

  20. So if a corps has a new parent organization then they are not the same corps? Not buying it. Would be like BITD a corps changed church or Legion sponsor being a new corps ”oh you have the same staff, equipment, etc, etc but you’re a different corps”

  21. Or this group called Garfield Cadets that moved and reorganized (to escape debt) as The Cadets of Bergen County. I seem to remember some 89 Les Miz show that competed after a winter of rampant staff changes and a horn line that didn’t fill out until June but thrilled the crowd come finals week. Some fools named Tom and April were percussion and guard caption leads.-Hmmmmm. And to think - the next season they won the whole thing. Sounds impossible But heck - I’m probably remembering all this wrong

  22. Yeah I remember that tear clear as day...it was leading to the company front. We weren't "lucky" about anything though so slow your roll.

  23. 11 minutes of GG in your face. If that ever comes to fruition, BD would slay it. Wherever they are playing, you better tighten the bolts and screws cause they will move that stadium off its foundation.

  26. If Madison wants a corps to copy, it would be Boston Crusaders. BAC has a strategic plan. Spirit had a bump up and some great shows, but they fell from finals. However in the past few years there has been steady improvement. My guess is they too, have a strategic plan. This seems to be what Madison needs, and may well have, and they have to keep persevering. It would be great to see Madison return to finals, though I would be happy to see solid, steady improvement, which is easy for me to say as a fan who is not staff, an alum or a marching member or parent of a marching member.

  27. Then can you post some sort of source so that we can all understand and believe what you're talking about?

  28. That is so funny you wrote this I just got a pledge envelope and letter. Let me start by saying the envelope was like a top notch wedding invitation. Yeah...the rich get richer 🙂

  29. There are so many points of discussion going on it’s hard to keep up. Mostly I’m just reading and trying to follow this fast growing and often confusing thread. But what it does show for good or for bad, the HUGE interest in Cadets. What might be worse, would be to hear nothing at all about them. The interest in them will be a component of their survival and get them through their reset. Carry on.

  30. I don't know the real situation which is why I'm not speculating what it is one way or another, but nice try. Nobody in this thread is really trying to understand the situation. They are just participating in idle gossip because the people who are actually in the know aren't posting in this thread. Anyone really trying to understand the situation would contact the corps directly, but instead it is just a bunch of speculation, rumors, and pearl clutching.

  31. I don’t know - it’s a drum corps discussion forum. So some people come here to discuss? The point is to strive to understand. Why does seeking the truth threaten you? Because kids might leave Cadets and go elsewhere? I doubt that would happen from some back and forth on an Internet forum. So what is it?

  32. For what it is worth, I was paid ON TIME and IN FULL by both YEA and USBands this year.

  33. Haven’t thought nearly as much about the YEA/Cadets relationship as many of you. Although, the matter of unpaid debts and how best to erase them from concern of the drum corps side (Cadets) is what this is all about. Would this be an ‘underwater’ restaurant chain, the common remedy would be bankruptcy, closing stores, selling assets, and coming back smaller, but still breathing somehow, and with a clean plate of no outstanding debt. Are whatever debts being discussed here the sole responsibility of YEA? Is the Cadets’ component in these obligations absolved by simply responding to creditors. . . . “YEA who?” Next, Cadets marching merrily along their way.

  34. not saying it'll be easy...biggest jumps i could find recently was 4 spots, and the quality of 13-16 has grown a lot. moving up period is positive growth, and the staff has a 3 year guarantee, something not offered for a while...never a chance to build on anything. like the Cadets or Phantom, the drop didn't happen overnight....and neither will the rebuild. but it is ok to shoot for the moon

  37. I think you will be proven wrong. There - I said it. The top 17 35 years ago wasn't even all full size touring corps - there was a mile of difference even between 12th and 17th - let alone top couple vs. top six vs. bottom six. You know this I sit at modern day semifinals and think - "this is 17th!!??"

  38. Yes I noted their desperate attempt to divert attention away from their on field failures. Abandoning identity is sure to help. That’s sarcasm.

  40. That would require a strict interpretation of the rules and a desire to punish The Cadets. Not impossible, but unlikely.

  41. Yes, I remember some of those CG gals at OHS! I was in KAC as well in the lead baritone section from 2005-2007 plus that last gig we did at Disneyland; I was also one of the visual guys. My then 6-year old came to our rehearsals a lot and his mom was in the French Horn section; she stood next to Bob Powers most of the time. I agree the experience was something to behold and frankly it was much more memorable to me than my age out year at SCV.

  42. That may,I don't know, protect the actual instruments. It would depend on how the "loan" agreement is written. But there could still be "issues" with things like vehicles, including the food truck, equipment trailers ,other non-instrument equipment like amplification systems, etc. I would think that all of these things have to addressed, before anything from YEA or The Cadets is made public.

  43. To blame the board would be absurd. In the same way that blaming a 17th place finish on membership gender sounds absurd. Anything else?

  46. Honestly. Have y’all gotten the email letting you know you got a call back? Have yall seen the books.... Or that one time they still haven’t paid 2018,2019 bus companies. Or spring training. Or the remainder of the staff.... I mean I wouldn’t know or anything just being involved since 2017.... still missing my paychecks....
