Uh oh guys....crown is doing another story show...watch out đ In all seriousness, crown has the percussion talent, the guard talent and writers, and of course the brass talent, and now they have been given the type of show that crown historically excels at with a powerful music selection. This could bode very, very well for them this competition season. I can't wait to see how this concept develops. I'd put money on many people in tears on finals night this year - and babies will be thrown. By the way, for those of you who haven't heard it on the field, Lacrimosa will send shivers down your spine when done justice on the field. Go check out Vandegrift HS (Texas) in their national championship show from 2019. Their ballad was Lacrimosa.4 points

i don't think it cost them the championship...maybe they woulda overtaken BD for silver...but it was still a hell of a show that won them their first color guard award and taken back the ott they lost in 2014 and 2015.3 points

'Twas another cold night in Vermont, but it looks like the cold is behind them. The local forecasts are calling for 70s-80s, cloudless skies and no rain now for at least a week. I'll be heading up there with Max Tuesday morning, and one of us will post updates once there.3 points

I know some will disagree but given that this show was the same summer as one of the worst shootings in US history (PULSE nightclub in Orlando), and given the activityâs close ties to the LGBTQ community, Iâm ok with the more peaceful ending.2 points

While understanding their rationale for it, thereâs no denying the original ending had the GE. Sure the new ending was as nice as they could make it, but it didnât pack the punch.2 points

The following statement has been used many times in the last 10+ years, but it bears repeating: "If all the people who only see the show once all respond with 'What the hell was that???' then you might have a problem." It's not the MM's or the parents or the judges who need to "get" the show concept. They all will because they'll see it a dozen or more times. It's the people paying $15 or $30 to see the show in July in East BumbleF who don't know when or if to clap. And for the record, I'll bet 99% of those people don't know what the #### "Exogenesis" is either.2 points

I know right. And i love Caroline Shawâs original piece, but even beyond that specific line, that one piece of music has been SO overused in TV, movies, etc. Saw a french movie a little while ago, heard that familiar Caroline Shaw sing-moaning, and thought God, sheâs invaded France too?? Heard it on a German netflix show a few years ago too. Enough!!! (That said obviously intrigued to see what BD is gonna do with this.)2 points

DCA plans to move their championships to Saturday AM in Indy for 24 and 25.! Details to follow1 point

I felt Crown could do it, jumping a few places in percussion wouldnât have made up for much. The fine margins in all captions led to the top three being where they were, GE being the least malleable in changing on finals week if Iâm being honest, along with it having a larger share of the pie, losing Music on finals night definitely hurt Crownâs chances as well. They couldnât keep that edge that very well wouldâve had them sandwiched right in between Bloo and BD realistically. I wouldâve been fine with either approach they went with for the ending too, liked bothđ¤ˇââď¸ Sue međ1 point

Iâve talked to Leon and Keith about this because Iâm a big fan of the show. Both claim that the ending was always planned to move towards the âspare himâ Yes it loses some emotion but I think itâs still the right choice1 point

And I stand by that, even if it did cost Crown a championship. But FWIW, I firmly believe Bloo had a show that no one was going to beat that year. I believed that from my first viewing.1 point

Don't forget when they did a story show and absolutely ruined it by rewriting the ending. They don't change relentless ending they win and you can't change my mind.1 point

Noting that many corps have themes that are not obvious unless you watch a video from the designers. And even then, it may not be that obvious (or not so well designed). While I certainly have had some "what the hell was that?" reactions over the years, if the music is great and performed well, I can look past my confusion. That's not to say well-performed music can't be confusing due to the design/arrangements.1 point

Had you taken the time to tune into the Phanathon the designers discussed at length the show concept and why they chose the material they did. Sorry they havenât put it up on their website for your browsing pleasure. Perhaps your âworld viewâ needs a little expanding as well.1 point

For some reason, the video segment for "Supremacy" (in conjunction with the show title) made me think of this:1 point

Should be an interesting show...but if I have to hear "the detail in the pattern is movement" one more time... It has been stuck in my head now for four years....thanks Crown đ1 point

I did the same and have similar thoughts! Very powerful list of songs and lots of emotion behind them!1 point

I've listened to all of the music in the order in which they put it on their show reveal, and it just seems to flow so well, so I hope the show itself does as well. As far as repertoire goes, this is one of their best in a while. Super excited to see how this show comes together and competes this year.1 point

Funny enough, I am reminiscing myself in those titles (I worked a couple of overnights, so I had about 3 regular days off). I still love them. Just imagine The Muppets "Rainbow Connection" feeding into the Wizard of Oz's "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" would be awesome.1 point

Hello everyone! Its almost the best time of the year...drum corps season! Super pumped to see what Crown puts on the field. I am planning on going up to Gardner Webb sometime soon. Maybe Friday or Saturday depending on the weather. I used to go to camps all the time, but I recently moved down to Charleston and it is not as easy to go to them anymore. Depending on what kind of "royal" show this is, I would not mind at all if their uniforms look something like old (early to mid-2010s is apparently old to me now) Academy uniforms for a more 1800s British look, but we will see since uniforms are getting lighter and more breathable as the years go on. Anyways, hope everyone is doing well and that we are in for a good season. Go Crown!1 point

What is established is that Vanguard spent faster than they could afford. Unless props/electronics were supplied, designed, transported and operated completely free of any cost, you cannot say they had "nothing" to do with it.1 point
