  1. Next year I'm gonna make the staff change thread and it's going to be titled "2020 Staff Merry-Go-Round: Do Not Open If Easily Triggered"

  2. Thank you for the response. Have a blessed day and a nice life.

  3. Don’t ya know? The point these days is to SEEK to be triggered. THEN report it is a travesty.

  4. If only there was a way to avoid reading stuff that you know will just make you angry. I wonder how that’s even possible. I mean, I guess you can just ignore the thread each year, but that’s just crazy talk! 🤪

  6. Core staff at CrownBrass is unchanged. Probably more accurate to say Crown launched Evan VanDoren to SCV with their blessings. Much the same way Kevin LeBoeuf was launched to the Cavaliers. Both of these Crown Alums naturally sought out other Crown Alums to fill out their staff. So no -- it's not true. Very cool to see Crown Alums teaching at so many places.

  7. from a current mm: most important comment in this whole thread, something that people should pay more attention to before immediately assuming better staff=better placement.

  8. The people that need to take ownership are those in this thread spreading private or false information. My or anyone ignoring the thread doesn’t do much to change the harmful dynamic.

  9. If you have read ANY of my other posts supporting the survivors of the GH incident as well as other incidents of predatory behavior, you would realize that you're barking up the wrong tree with me. I don't expect you to pay attention to what I've said in the past because it seems that you have an itchy trigger finger and the mindset to react before you actually think. Try reading before you fling mud please. I responded to a comment regarding the number of times that GH is mentioned across multiple threads that have literally NOTHING to do with him.

  12. I think i am the only one who said it. Feel free to call me out. But i have the courage of my own conviction, regardless of how unpopular it will be on this forum. But you are one of the classy ones on this site, so i always look forward to reading your thoughts.

  13. Interestingly, Alex Haddad (who started our corps after resigning as the Director of the St. Thomas Crusaders DBC - the "band" of the all-male high school in Rockford operated by the Augustinian order with an all-female guard drawn from the all-girl school nearby, Bishop Muldoon) originally chose Rockford Rangers as the corps' name. The Rangers was a reference to Rockford's image as the Forest City because of the proliferation of elm trees throughout the city. The all-female guard (which included Mr. Haddad's 2 daughters) was to be known as the Rangerettes. Some members of the new corps thought outside the box and approached Mr. Haddad with the name Phantom Regiment. The story is that Mike Gallagher and Jim Wren were listening to DBC recordings and discovered a Leroy Anderson song called "The Phantom Regiment" played by the Syracuse Brigadiers. . Alex agreed, the corps became Phantom Regiment and the guard became the Phantomettes.

  15. In 1963, the Regiment was an all-male corps, including the CG. In 1964, the Regiment converted to its original standard of a male and female corps with a return of the Phantomettes. As an aside, in one of our early years (between 1956 & 1960) a few MMs formed an all-male Color Guard and competed on the winter guard circuit; we called ourselves the Raiders; we lasted one year. These days, the Regiment's CG includes males and they are called Raiders.

  16. Just like signing up to read GH threads even if you’re not interested and just want to gripe about them. 😈 As my old man would say “no ones holding a gun to your head”

  17. Hey I hear that the director at Cadets got in some trouble back a year or so ago. Can we talk about that for the next 2 to 200 pages? I know that is off topic but I'm pretty sure the TOC's for DCP require him to be mentioned in each and every thread.

  18. Pretty sure Willie Taggart is history after today.

  19. No one who has ever read DCP even once would dare claim Cappy is a Cadets' fan. No way, no how.

  25. all of those numbers are actually pretty meaningless. the "analsysis" if you want to call it that was for shows that were being designed with a focus on visual to maximize the sheets. if sheets were different with the way they weighted music, show designs would have been quite different.

  39. I don't see the correlation there. Maybe the other way around - attract the best educators and remain top tier. I really and truly don't think BD has rigged the system. I think they're just incredibly good at what they do. Mike

  47. Most interesting to me at the moment is who lured Mike Jackson and his team away from BK. Adding that percussion to a top 6 team would be a tasty proposition. I love Colin, but he isn't the reigning WGI champion. And their (Broken city) style and influence on the musical direction would be a welcome change to the East coast.
